SIGNS MoU WITH KIST.
A Korean delegation led by Dr. Myung
Oh, President of Konkuk University and renowned pioneer
of the ICT revolution in Korea paid a visit to KIST. The
delegation comprised university scholars, CEOs and leading
figures in the Korean private sector in the field of ICT
who came to Rwanda to explore further partnerships between
the Governments of Rwanda and Korea as well as foster
relationships with the Korean Private sector in different
areas of ICT.
The delegation held discussions with
KIST with a view to develop partnerships with Konkuk University
which would enable Rwandans to study |
in Korea and a Memorandum
of Understanding was signed between KIST represented by
the Rector Prof. Abraham Atta Ogwu and Dr. Myung Oh the
President of KONKUK University.
Rwanda can incorporate programs including
Green ICT, Medical IT, Telecommunications and E-Governance
and enhance the country’s ICT capacity, particularly
in skills development, with the support of Korean experts.
Also discussed was cooperation in software development,
a field in which Korea has extensive expertise, and ways
to build Rwanda’s capacities in this area.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation
after the the signing ceremony, Prof. Jung Suk Ryou said
“Rwanda and Korea share numerous similarities. we
started our ICT development from scratch, trying out what
works and what doesn’t , and we had to spend many
decades finding out the right combinations, the right
applications. Sharing this knowledge with you will spare
you having to go through the same mistakes and failures
that we encountered.”
