ADVERTISEMENT FOR ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION CHEMISTS (2)

The Department of Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Science, KIST has a state of the art Analytical Equipment that use spectrophotometric, spectrometric, chromatographic techniques among others. The department uses the equipment for teaching (undergraduate and postgraduate), Research, Consultancy and Community Service. The equipment (model/ manufacturer) include:
Atomic Absorption (Graphite furnace)-(AAS-6800.SHIMADZOU), FTIR Spectrophotometer (FTIR-8400S.SHIMADZOU), UV/VIS/ NIR (Spectrophotometer-UV-3600 SHIMADZOU), HPLC (LC-20. SHIMADZOU), LCMS (LCMS-2010. SHIMADZOU), GCMS (GSMS-QP2010), GC (GC2O10. SHIMADZOU), Elemental Analyzer (Vario ELlII. Gmbh Germany), Flame photometer (PFP7FlameINP.UK), Capillary Electrophoresis (Capel105M.Alumex), Polarograph: Dropping Mercury electrode (MDE150.TRACELAB) Voltalab: Electrochemical cells (voltameter45510.PHYWE), Horiba Air Analyzer-(APOA-370.HORIBA) and Inductively coupled mass spectrometer (ICPE-9000. SHIMADZOU).

The department is seeking Analytical Instrumentation Chemists (2) whose duties are to:

  • Operate / maintain the equipment
  • Carry out sample analysis/ data interpretation
  • Teach analytical instrumentation courses to both undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Train and assist other users of the equipment

Qualifications
The candidates should have:

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry with bias in Analytical Instrumentation with at least one year (1) experience in a busy analytical chemistry laboratory
    OR
  • MSc. in analytical chemistry with bias in Analytical Instrumentation with at least three (3) years experience in a busy analytical laboratory

Remuneration
The successful candidates will be recruited at Expatriate Senior Lecturer level, according to KIST remuneration rates. They will be given an initial two (2) years contract, which is renewable thereafter Interested candidates should apply to The Rector, KIST enclosing all certificates and CLEARLY stating which of the above equipment they can operate/maintain.
