Dr. Antoine Nsabimana started his career at Institut des Sciences Agronomiques du Rwanda (ISAR) in 1992 as Researcher in Plant and Soil Chemistry Laboratory. From 1998 to 2001, he occupied the position of Head of Plant and Soil Chemistry Laboratory in the same Institut. From 2001 to 2002, Dr. Antoine Nsabimana occupied the position of Head of Tissue Culture Laboratory at ISAR. In addition to the research assignment at ISAR, Dr Antoine Nsabimana was a visiting lecturer at National University of Rwanda (NUR). In August 2002, Dr. Antoine Nsabimana decided to pursue his PhD study in the area of Plant Molecular Biology at the

University of Natal currently University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. He obtained a PhD degree in Plant Molecular Biology in 2006, prior to PhD study; Dr Antoine Nsabimana obtained an MSc degree in Bioorganic Chemistry from the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1992 and a BSc in Biology in 1991, from the same University in Russia Federation.

Dr. Antoine Nsabimana joined Kigali Institute of Science and Technology in January 2007 as Senior lecturer in Applied Biology Department in Faculty of Science. He was the Academic Officer from October 2008 in 2009 he was appointed as Head of Department of Applied Biology and from June 2010 he is the  Dean of Faculty of Applied Sciences.

Professionally, Dr Antoine Nsabimana is member of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) and also member of the National Task Force on Banana Xanthomonas Wilt. His research interest is in the area Plant biotechnology; Plant breeding; Crop management; Germplasm Conservation.
